Poliça’s ”Wandering Star” video directed by Eugene Lee Yang and choreographed by Yemi A.D. (Kanye West -”Runaway”) debuted on Pitchfork yesterday. It’s a depiction of an elderly lady in all her beauty with the simple use of paint and dance. Make sure you take the time and watch it. Feel free to let us know your thoughts!

This video encompasses all that is wonderful about New York City and the soft sweeping music of Atlas Sound. The performance marked the opening of photographer Ryan McGinley’s exhibitions Animals and Grids.
Everything NYC great EL-P touches is just straight up sick. He is the genius behind the legendary underground group Company Flow, has rapped with and produced for some of hip-hop’s greatest, co-founded the Definitive Jux label and still makes some of the most mind-bending, heart pounding beats anyone has ever heard. The recent announcement of the release of his new album, Cancer for Cure, set to release May 22nd, will be his first album in 5 years following the superb I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead. According to Pitchfork, the album includes collaborations with Danny Brown, Interpol’s Paul Banks, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, and Killer Mike, among others. Here’s a little taste…we’re already loving what’s on the horizon.
Detroit darling Alex Winston has been very very busy as of late and the music world has taken notice. She just debuted her new video and announced the release of her upcoming debut King Con, due out April 10th. The theme of which is centered around her fascination with the pretenders of the world…everyday con-men, cult leaders and sham preachers. Production for the album has come from the likes of Charlie Hugall (Florence and the Machine and Crystal Fighters), Bjorn Yttling (Lykke Li) and The Knocks and the album is full of sounds from her Motown roots. She has supported Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros as well as Gotye and will be announcing a new set of UK tour dates soon. Keep your eyes on this one. She’s poised to stick around.

The Fresh & Onlys sign to Mexican Summer, in the studio finishing new LP
The Fresh & Onlys have officially signed to Brooklyn’s Mexican Summer and will release its fourth official full-length on the label in the first half of 2012. The band is currently working at Lucky Cat Studios in San Francisco with producer & engineer Phil Manley (Wooden Shjips, Moon Duo, Les Savy Fav, Grass Widow, etc.) wrapping up the recording sessions for the new record.
The band spoke with SPIN about their new album – read the exclusive interview here.
The band’s most recent full-length, last year’s Play It Strange (In The Red) was received with wide acclaim from an enormous amount of press outlets including Spin Magazine. It was also #29 on Pitchfork’s top 50 albums of the year. In 2010, The Fresh & Onlys toured with Deerhunter and Clinic, and performed at the Matt Groening curated ATP in Minehead, England. In 2011 the band released the Secret Walls EP on the Sacred Bones label, did several headlining tours and played the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. Heralded as “one of rock’s hardest working bands,” they head out on tour in early 2012 with Disappears for a West Coast run of dates, with more 2012 dates TBA soon.
